Fieldnote, research repository · 2025
Fieldnote
A research tool whose marketing site took nine seconds to load on a phone. We rebuilt it in Astro with a CMS the team actually uses; it now loads in under one.

Parcelpost, shipping labels for small shops · 2025
Parcelpost
Five product teams, five versions of every button. We built a design system from what they already shipped, and new screens now take days instead of weeks.

Greenhouse OS, climate control for growers · 2024
Greenhouse OS
Growers checked their greenhouses on phones, wearing gloves, in bright sun. We redesigned the dashboard for exactly that, and alarms are now answered twice as fast.

How we work
Two weeks. Four steps. No surprises.
- 1Day 1–2
Teardown
We read your analytics, talk to three of your users and write down what is actually broken. You get the list before we draw anything.
- 2Day 3–5
Rough cut
Clickable screens in the browser, not in a slide deck. Ugly on purpose, so we argue about the flow instead of the colors.
- 3Week 2
Build
Design and code at the same table. A staging link updates every evening; you comment right on the page.
- 4Day 10
Ship
It goes live, we measure the first week, and you keep the code, the components and a written handover.

Why our first designs are ugly on purpose
Rough cuts in the browser get better feedback than polished mockups. Here's how we make them and what clients say about them.

What it takes to ship every site at Lighthouse 100
The short list of rules that keep our launches fast, from fonts to images to the one script we always remove.
Engineering / Performance
Fixed sprints, fixed prices
Why we stopped billing by the hour, and how a two-week sprint with one price works for us and for clients.
